Willow Coppicing at Ripon Parks

The team ‘relaxing’ around the camp fire after a hard day willow coppicing at Ripon Parks. It has been a few years since it was last done and doing this should ensue some good ringing opportunities during the spring and autumn migration. Did anyone bring the potatoes?

Autumn Round Up

It has been an eventful autumn ringing at Ripon Parks and recently at High Batts. There have been some remarkable highlights including Firecrest, 2 Kingfisher, a real rarity for this site and at present, over 1400 Redwing ringed during the period. Unusually we have also ringed 8 siskin, a bird rarely seen at Ripon Parks.

Ringing will continue at High Batts over the winter when we hope to add to our tally of Redwing.

Below are some of those we have ringed over the last few weeks.

New elevator nets at Ripon Parks

Work has gone into extending the number of elevator nets that are operational at Ripon Parks this autumn and winter. There are now four sets of elevator nets just waiting for all of those incoming redwings! Thanks to the boys for this and to SW for mending the holes in the nets.

And  look what we caught whilst setting up and  making sure the nets worked well!
